Master of Arts Degree

My most recent degree was completed in January of 2010 at the University of Calgary. Under the supervision of Dr. J. Paul, this rigorous thesis-based program led my down an enlightening year of discovery, research, inquiry and understanding of gifted and talented students and their role in social justice programs. By taking a series of courses and then embarking on a year long ethnography, I honed my research, writing and public speaking skills

Bachelor of Education

Having travelled on my own around the world for and worked in the cartography  industry, I chose to pursue a career path that always resonated with me since my grade 12 year and coaching a grade 8 boys volleyball team in my own high school - teaching. Working with tremendous, experienced partners in the classroom affirmed what I had always known - I loved to work with people and I was driven to become a teacher.

Bachelor of Arts

Majoring in English Literature, my course selection through four years was diverse and challenging. In addition to a large number of literature classes I also endeavoured to explore courses in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Philosophy and a good collection of history courses. With so many interest areas, I found University a challenging place to focus on just one area.
In the fall of 2009, after being nominated by some of my students at Westmount Charter School, I made my way to Rideau Hall in Ottawa to receive the Governor General's Award for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History for an interactive, problem-based simulation I created that challenged students with different scenarios through the exploration, settlement and colonization of early Canada.
